Support for Piercers and Studios
Last updated: 28 May 2025
The Piercing Standards Agency (PSA) exists to support professional studios who want to operate transparently, safely, and with confidence. Our aim is to improve consistency across the industry - not to shame, or interfere - but to provide a structure you can refer to when navigating day-to-day decisions, conflict, or consumer confusion.
How We Help
-
Clear Codes of Practice
We publish working standards that reflect best practice without demanding membership or certification. Our guidance is designed to be realistic, flexible, and appropriate for a wide range of studio types and setups. -
Professional Clarity
Consumers often misunderstand what’s legally required. PSA helps explain what’s law, what’s best practice, and what’s personal preference - helping you reduce unnecessary complaints or misunderstandings. -
Resources and Templates
Access guides, checklists, aftercare handouts, and useful documentation to simplify how you run your studio. -
Support With Complaints
If a client complains and references the PSA, you’re not automatically ‘under review.’ We’ll never take sides without context. Our goal is to reduce unnecessary escalation and help all parties reach a fair resolution. -
Studio Transparency
Studios following PSA guidelines can show they meet consistent expectations — without having to pay for formal membership or inspection schemes.
What We Expect in Return
We don’t demand certification, fees, or sign-up. But if you refer to PSA standards, we expect:
- Studios to work towards following our codes in good faith
- Honesty in public claims about sterilisation, training, and practices
- Willingness to resolve genuine complaints constructively
